Alternate Titles:

The film was originally released without the "Carry On" moniker. Peter Rogers' deal with Ango Amalgamated was at an end and he left the distributor to work with the presigious Rank brand. At the time of release it was believed the film could stand on its own without the "Carry On" banner but it was renamed and re-released to far greater success.

The film was known as "Carry On Pimpernel" in the USA and Canada

Bloopers & Gaffes:

During the fight scene at the end of the film, the wires securing both Charles Hawtrey and Jim Dale when they swing on the chandelier are quite clearly in shot.

When the executioner decides to put his own head on the block to see if there is a "kinky runner", there are several shots which look down on the executioner's head. In these views, you can quite clearly see the note in the basket, which the girl put there a few moments ago.

When the Duc de Pommfrit is about to have his head chopped off the girl comes running on to the platform and tells the Duke there is a message the Duke tells her to drop it in the basket and he will read it later. But he would have a hard job because as the camera looks down into the basket there is no sign of the letter.
